The Saucer Bomber is an advanced design hovercraft based on German designs from WWII. It represents the bomber aircraft of the atmospheric corps, and is not an actual spacefaring vessel (as may be inferred from the common stereotype). The saucer uses common propulsion systems and, like the Concorde, is intended as a vertical-lift-vehicle. These saucers are fitted with large cargo bays, wherein bombs can be stored for future drops on targets. The advantages of laser guidance and homing radar have further allowed us to equip bombs for additional accuracy. The advantage these saucers provide is that their hovering ability allows them to position themselves nearly stationary over a target, insuring better accuracy and/or continued bombardment of a particular target. Saucers can land on virtually any flat surface, but can range from submarine decks to large carrier ships. Unlike most of our land vehicles that run on electric power, the saucer runs on conventional high-grade rocket fuel. Titanium alloy plates line the outer hull providing protection from flak guns. Additionally they only require two personnel to staff.
