Given the recent issue brought up by Natopia regarding discrimination against homosexuals, I propose that Universalis adopt a set of standardized anti-discrimination laws so that, should this happen here, appropriate steps can be taken to thwart it.
Obviously this would include such things as:
- Defamation of character based on sex, race, gender choice, religion, is illegal and subject to penalties from the courts.
What else though?

We should outlaw ALL types of discrimination, bigotry, etc. Race, religion, political views, sexual orientation, height, weight, hair color, eye color, everything (you get the idea). We can place into the law that discrimination based on...blah blah blah...is illegal, and should a citizen feel he/she/it has been discriminated against and that the method was not listed in our laws, but is just as viable, we can make judgments on a case-by-case basis...just to cover every conceivable angle on it.

I'm cool with that. I spend most of my time on the receiving end anyway

So let's say the law is written thus:
Anti-Discrimination Law of Universalis
1. Any discrimination, by an individual or group, is illegal and punishable by law.
2. Any person who feels they have been discriminated against has the right to petition the court for an inquiry.
3. Discrimination includes any of the following: Defamation of character, prejudice based on gender, sexual orientation, race, skin or body color, religion, dress, or body modifications (e.g. tattoos or piercings), height, weight, or political views.
4. The list of discriminatory items as stated in part 3 is not all inclusive and a person who feels they have been discriminated against for something not listed still has the right to petition for a court inquiry.
5. Penalties for discrimination are decided on a case-by-case basis by the courts and will be fairly judged.
6. Those person(s) accused of discrimination have the right to make their position heard before the court makes a decision on the matter, and are entitled to a defending lawyer.
7. Those person(s) accusing a party of discrimination are entitled to a trial and a lawyer by the state.

Poor choice of words, Chairman. If we use the word "choice" here, we are making a judgment about homosexuality, by saying that it's a choice that someone consciously made. "sexual orientation" might be a more acceptable term.

Sorry, I had a brain fart. You're absolutely correct, and I will edit the above text accordingly.
