The geographical area that makes up the Unorganized Territories has a long history to it.
In the very beginning of Micras and the fledgling Apollo Sector, the region was part of Universalis. This was back in the year 2000. For that matter, it had the same culture as now, but in a much more primitive state. For a while it was joined first to Shireroth, then to Demesos, to Menelmacar, then Elpidos, back to Menelmacar, and finally abandoned circa 2004.
The land then went on to a succession of owners. First Lavalon (Map 6.8.2.), then Paulovia (Map 7.0.6.), finally ending up under Natopia (Map 9.0.).
Under Lavalon, the area was mostly associated with the province named Trans-Djermanie. Asking Nathan of Natopia for any information he could provide about this, he was able to provide a good description which shed a lot of light on the culture of that area.
"Trans-Djermanie was the province ruled and established by Henzelli (who now resides in Antica i think? or at least his last known place of residence) and was as far as I remember a quasi-socialist culture. At least because he was a socialist and the provinces took after their rulers. There was little regional development at that time as most Lavalonians did not support claiming land on Micras. The only story I remember was that there was an old city Kierengrad (ruins in Natopia still i think) and that there was a student revolution at the major Lavalonian university there. Also, it is home to "millions of refuges" from the collapse of Henzelli's own micronation the Socialist State of New Germany (thus the name, which he suggested) and Henzelburk (now Estatia) is a coastal industrial "powerhouse." So very German, very socialist, very mid 19th century Marxist revolutionary."
As I mentioned in Natopia, this makes sense based on my own research over the past week. A Google search on "Djermanie" brings up results indicating that this is a way some Romanians spell "Germany". Given the etymology of states such as Transylvania (trans = ultra = beyond, sylvan = forest; beyond the forest) this makes sense (Trans-Djermanie = Beyond Germany).
I've checked in Antica, and Henzelli seems to have stopped visiting there in January, rather unfortunately. I will make further inquiries to his whereabouts to see what additional information I can dig up.
This is, however, a very good start. Not only will this help us to choose an appropriate name, but it also helps us to compile a concise history of the land.
